Car designers usually have their hands tied by engineers and the bean counting department. If they don't, beautiful things can happen.
Like the De Tomaso Mangusta. It's so cool that David Carradine chose it as his ride instead of a futuristic Cadillac concept in Kill Bill 2. But does the gullwing engine and luggage covers make (the very often needed) maintenance easier? I doubt it.
