At the historic races at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca the other week, we heard briefly about an F1 car flipping after contact at the Corkscrew. We also heard that there was video, but it wasn't released. This is that video.
Driver Dan Marvin was in his Brabham BT44 when contact occurred at Laguna Seca's infamous Corkscrew. The Brabham flipped over and slid down the Corkscrew on the very wrong side.
As you can see, the other driver involved stops and immediately gets out of the car to help his fellow racer, which is just awesome. Both of them walked away from the crash, which is great news.
But it could have been much worse. The Corkscrew is relatively slow, but look at it as the car flips over. The airbox totally collapses. If it were at higher speeds, we might have seen a tragedy. Crisis averted.
