Vanishing Point has everything you could want in a cult car classic: a naked biker chick, a sweet muscle car, a likeable radio DJ, and lots of trippy scenes. So, if you’re up for an eerie drive through the West, take your own Vanishing Point road trip. We suggest you refrain from getting hopped up on speed or promise anyone you’ll make it to San Francisco by 3PM.
Oddly enough, most of the filming locations themselves have vanished or been abandoned. The rough and tumble Denargo Market area of Denver has been “revitalized” and now packs urban Yuppies into apartments walking distance to Coors Field. Most of the gas stations and background businesses in the movie are also long gone. You do, however, have the opportunity to visit two of the movie’s most recognizable landmarks.
Cisco, UT
Although portrayed as Cisco, CA in the film, the site of the climax of the movie is actually in Utah. Cisco is a true ghost town, and it’s eeriness has led it to be featured in other movies such as Thelma and Louise and Don’t Come Knocking. It's also featured in the Johnny Cash song, “Cisco Clifton's Fillin’ Station”.

Goldfield Hotel- Goldfield, NV
Vanishing Point buffs will recognize this as the Radio KOW headquarters. In reality, the Goldfield Hotel was one of the grandest hotels of the west when first built. Between a nasty fire in the 1920s and the end of the gold rush, the Goldfield Hotel and the whole town of Goldfield never got back on their feet. Today, the Goldfield Hotel still stands, but is completely abandoned.
