Welcome to another reminder that Mitsubishi is still a car company. Other than the cheap and forgettable Mirage hatchback, they don't have a lot of new cars to talk about. But they've just announced that they'll have a new large SUV to show off at the Tokyo Motor Show, oh wait it's a concept.

Mitsubishi released a somewhat clear sketch of what they plan to unveil at November's Tokyo Motor Show and it's a pretty safe guess that it's going to be a representation of the next Montero (or Pajero or Shogun, depending where on the planet you live).

The Concept GC-PHEV full-size SUV seen in the sketch is, of course, a plug-in hybrid and described as something that "offers both the dynamic drivability of an SUV and class-leading environmental performance."

Starving U.S. Mitsu dealers want any new product, but a new Montero has been rumored to arrive here sometime when there's a new Montero to sell globally.

Mitsubishi also previewed two other concepts for Tokyo. The Concept XR-PHEV is a compact SUV designed to look like a sport coupe (yeah, like that'll sell). And the other is the Concept AR, a small crossover/minivan thing with a downsized turbocharged engine. Fun.

And this concludes our reminder about Mitsubishi Motors.

Honda Could Possibly Be Working On A Baby S2000 Successor, Maybe insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com

You miss the Honda S2000? Sure you do. I do too. It's not saying goodbye to something that special. But if you believe an unconfirmed and anonymous source at an enthusiast website, a new S2000-type roadster may be in the works at Honda. Take this with a grain of salt.

The website GTChannel says, according to an unnamed source within Honda, that the company is working on a new compact rear-wheel drive sports car to compete with the Mazda Miata and Scion FR-S/Subaru BRZ.

They say that Honda will go smaller, lighter and cheaper with this next roadster, which could sport a minimized engine compared to its predecessor. It could be called the S1500. Here's what they say:

The car would be small, probably even smaller than the Mazda MX-5, and come equipped with either a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter inline-4 with i-VTEC. If the latter, it could well be the current engine under the Fit’s hood that can produce up to 132 hp. The car would be very light, about 900 kg or right at about 2000 lb., making it very quick and agile. It would of course be rear-drive, and come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. Our source says he would like to see the car priced around $20,000. There’s even talk that the “S1500” may come with a mid-engine layout, a la the Honda Beat.

As always, take this report with a big grain of salt, as we have no similar news, spy photos or other reports to back it up. I'd love to see Honda get back in the roadster game as well, but considering how hard the company worked to abandon its sporting DNA in recent years, I'm not terribly optimistic.

Anyone else interested in this?
