Darius Slay will be a rookie cornerback on the Detroit Lions this year. But he doesn't know too much about football history. He thinks Green Bay's Lambeau Field is "Lambo" Field. Yup. Like the car.
Slay was apparently shooting the shit with some of his teammates when they got to discussing Lambeau Field, the storied home of the Green Bay Packers. He didn't realize that the stadium wasn't named after a car.
I knew what a Lambo was, but I didn't know it was Green Bay's stadium" Slay told Klemko. "They said, 'Man, that's the stadium!' I said, 'Oh man . . .'
Slay isn't being paid to know the history of stadiums that aren't where his team plays every week, he's paid to know football, which his team says he knows really, really well. And in his defense, Lambeau and Lambo are pronounced the same way. It's an honest mistake.
Hopefully someday he gets a Lambeau of his own. Or a Lambo. Whichever.
