345 horsepower. 516 pound-feet of torque. Zero to 62 mph in 4.5 seconds. 54 combined miles per gallon. These are the numbers behind the new Alpina D3 Bi-Turbo, the magical and insanely powerful diesel wagon dreams are made of.

Of course, the new amped-up diesel BMW 3-Series headed to the Frankfurt Motor Show also comes in sedan form.

But who cares? Little Jalops don't pin posters of diesel sedans on their bedroom walls so they can dream about them when they drift off to sleep. Diesel wagons are what it's really all about, and thankfully this new D3 comes in Touring wagon form. No word on whether it has a manual option, but previous D3s have had stick shifts, so it seems like a safe bet.

Autocar reports that this is the first time a six-cylinder diesel engine has been used in the D3; previously, it used a four-banger. But this twin-turbo setup is fast enough to outrun even the potent M135i, and it can sprint all the way up to a top speed of 173 mph. It's also incredibly efficient, and while that impressive 54 mpg is on the European testing cycle, I'm sure it translates very well into ours as well.

Will we get it in America though? Probably not. But we can always dream. Or move to Europe.
