Today, most drivers probably wouldn't ever consider using their cars to tow a machine gun around so they can kill tigers more effectively. But if that does happen to be your bag, Barrett-Jackson has the ride for you.
Up for auction in Las Vegas this weekend is a gorgeous 1925 Rolls-Royce Torpedo Sports Tourer, which also comes with a little wagon-towed .45-caliber hand-cranked machine gun. See, this particular car was commissioned and owned by India's Umed Singh II, the Maharaja of Kotah from 1889 until his death in 1940.
See, the Maharaja was an avid big game hunter. He and his family enjoyed going after Bengal tigers, elephants and other animals for sport. In 1925 he contacted the Barker and Co., Ltd. of London, which at the time was the preferred coachbuilder for Rolls-Royces, and asked them to build a car that would be his estate's main hunting vehicle.
As Wired reports, the Rolls also has a double-barreled pistol mounted on the side and an elephant gun strapped to the back. They expect the car to fetch more than $1 million at auction.
All in all, it's the perfect vehicle for the responsible, freedom-loving, tiger-hating auto enthusiast with vintage style and a massive wallet. You never know when you're going to run into tigers, anyway. It's better to be prepared.
