Ford is a bit behind the curve in the truck department right now. Chevrolet just rolled out the new 2014 Silverado and Ram got a new diesel, but Ford's all-new 2015 F-150 won't be out until next year. So at the Texas State Fair this week, Ford was all about evolution instead of revolution.

Amidst the onslaught of carnival rides, fried food and country music at Fair Park, Ford showed off an improved second-generation version of their 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbodiesel V8 engine.

They say the new V8, which sports a larger turbocharger and a new high-pressure fuel pump, will have more power and torque then the current car's 400 horsepower and 800 pound-feet of torque. Ford didn't say how much, exactly, but they say the motor will be more durable and offer better performance than the current one.

Ford also showed off the 2015 Ford F-450, a revised version of the current model with a strengthened frame, suspension, new 19.5-inch wheels and tires. Other improvements include an increased fifth-wheel and gooseneck trailer capacity and stronger steering gears and steering linkages. The truck now has more towing capacity than ever before.

Ford is also unveiling a refreshed F-250 Super Duty King Ranch edition, a vehicle we Texans would call a "luxury sedan." Here, it sports a "lighter, richer shade of Mesa leather" and various exterior tweaks including a darker shade of "Caribou" brown on the bumper and lower body, Ford says.

Will these enhancements be enough to keep Ford fans satisfied until the new F-150 drops, and enough to keep buyers away from Silverado, Sierra and Ram? We'll see.
