For the Super Bowl this year, Kia is proving it has its finger on the pulse of the popular consciousness in 1999 by enlisting Morpheus from The Matrix to be the pitchman for the Kia K900 luxury sedan. Then they sent Jalopnik some pills in the mail.
I do believe this is the first time a major car manufacturer has sent us mysterious substances in the mail, at least since we stopped getting those weird powder-filled envelopes from Ferrari a couple years back.
Anyway, automakers sent us press kits for their cars and advertising initiatives all the time, and this one is pretty clever. It also came with a Blu-Ray copy of the first Matrix film, so I know what I'll be doing tonight. Thankfully, they did not send its sequels.
I haven't taken the pills, but I'll probably make our editorial fellow Chris Perkins down them both. If you don't hear from him anymore, then this was a very bad idea.
