Bentley owners don't like to be deprived of anything. Any option, any feature, any special accoutrement, Bentley would provide. Except if you wanted a Flying Spur with a V8, instead of the usual W12. But the company has finally heard the desperate pleas, and now you can finally get a Spur with that V8 rumble.
As the Flying Spur is based on the Continental GT, it's the same 500-horse affair that resides in the big coupe. The V8 was ostensibly introduced as a "cleaner" Bentley, if there is such a thing, and as such the car comes with standard features like cylinder deactivation, in your 500 horsepower twin-turbo V8 Bentley, and intelligent thermal management and electrical recuperation, in your 500 horsepower twin-turbo V8 Bentley.
All of that adds up to give you a fuel efficiency rating of around 25 MPG, and not getting dinged at the pump is what you care about, in your 500 horsepower twin-turbo V8 Bentley.
All kidding aside, it's a 500 horsepower twin-turbo V8 Bentley, so I'm sure it's fantastic, just like the Continental V8 is. Bentley estimates the Flying Spur V8 to get to 60 MPH from zero in 4.9 seconds, which not so long ago would've been better than a Porsche 911.
But sorry, badging fans. A little plastic thing on the back saying "V8" is not in order, as plastic thing are so very plebian.
Nope, instead Bentley's fitted those gorgeous figure-8 exhaust tips. exclusive for the V8 model. Which is just stupendous.
