With 550 horsepower and 501 foot pounds of torque from a supercharged 5.0 V8 and 59 cubic feet cargo space, the XFR-S Sportbrake is your classy alternative to an E63 AMG or an RS6 Avant. It's a big, ballsy pussycat.

Just like the Audi, this won't reach US shores either. But for all of you who will actually be able to buy or see this on the streets, here's the rest the good news.

While it will start at £82,495 ($137,647) in the UK, you're getting quite a lot of car for your money. The XFR-S sedan is a brilliant car with a silly wing. The Sportbrake gets rid of that wing and replaces it with a 59 cubic feet (1675 liter) boot when the rear seats are folded flat, giving you the option of accelerating your stuff to a limited 186 mph, or to 62 mph in 4.6. Just don't put anything fragile in there.

Peak torque is available between 2500-5500 rpm with 550 horses attacking the rear wheels at 6,500. That takes care of the hot rod question, but the wagon body style has better aerodynamics than the sedan as standard. Jaguar put a deeper front bumper on it as well to channel air to that mighty V8 and the brakes. The rear bumper also incorporates a massive carbon fibre diffuser to reduce lift while the dampers and springs were adjusted to match the increased rear mass of the car. The active electronic differential got recalibrated too, for those ultimate wagon drifts.

The rest is pretty much the same as the sedan version, with the great eight-speed ZF automatic, carbon fiber bits here and there and as much leather and contrasting stitching as you can imagine.

With BMW out of the picture after the previous M5 wagon's sales failure, the superwagon game is pretty much between Audi RS, Mercedes-Benz AMG and Jaguar. I take mine in British Racing Green please.
