Volkswagen's had its fair share of SUV concepts in the last several auto shows, but their lineup is still limited to the Tiguan and Touareg. The VW T-ROC Concept, debuting next week at the Geneva Motor Show, indicates the Germans want more funky crossovers in the range.

The T-ROC is described as being for "more than urban driving," but that city environment is an important part of the little SUV. It's about a foot shorter than the current Tiguan, meaning it's more similar in size to the Nissan Juke everyone points to as a strange little crossover.

VW says the headlight surrounds are reminiscent of a Type 34 Karmann Ghia, but again, I see Juke.

In a new trick, the T-ROC features "removable roof-halves" that can be taken out for a summery breeze. Cue the Firebird T-top references now.

Powering the concept is the powerplant from the new VW Golf GTD, which we're not getting for a while. But that means it's a 2.0-liter turbodiesel with 184 horses. In the T-ROC, it gets 4Motion all-wheel drive with street, off-road and snow settings for those urban adventures VW envisions.

No word on how soon it'll be hitting an urban environment near you, but we'll see the concept next week.
