How can I describe the Vauxhall Astra VXR Extreme, the latest and craziest iteration of the Vauxhall Astra VXR? It's as if the old Saturn Astra went home to Europe, did a bunch of steroids, won the Olympics, became Batman, and came back to exact revenge on everyone who ever made fun of it.
It's not coming here to the U.S., though. I'm pretty depressed about that because it looks pretty ridiculous.
The VXR EXTRME is set to debut at next week's Geneva Motor Show, and with more than 296 horsepower going to the front wheels, it's the most powerful front drive Vauxhall (and maybe Opel too, same car) ever produced.
You get a boosted version of the same direct-injection 2.0-liter four on the normally 279 horsepower VXR, a six-speed manual, a limited slip differential, Brembo brakes, adjustable dampers, and a roof, hood and numerous aero parts made of carbon fiber.
It even ditches the back seats because who really needs those, anyway? Track day, bro. Overall these weight savings equate to a car 220 pounds lighter than the standard VXR.
It also has the word "EXTREME" all over it in case someone were to doubt its intentions.
The VXR EXTRME sounds properly mad, or whatever people say in England to describe crazy shit like this. AutoExpress reports that if the public's reaction is positive, it could get greenlit as a limited-production model in Europe.
