For years, I have been saying that while the BMW 3-Series Coupe and its successor the 4-Series are great, an extra set of doors would make them way more practical. It seems BMW has listened to me, because here is the 2015 4-Series Gran Coupe in full.
I kid, of course. And it's really not a bad looking car at all. It just doesn't really look that much different from the 3-Series on which it's based. But maybe that's okay, because the current 3-Series is a pretty attractive machine. It's cool if you like it — Raphael does too, and he oozes class.
So why opt for the 4-Series Gran Coupe? Because it's lower, wider and longer, and perhaps best of all, it's a true hatchback, and one that looks better than the 3-Series Gran Turismo. Remember that? I know, I have trouble keeping all these derivatives straight too.
As with its siblings, power comes from a 2.0-liter turbo four in the 428i with 240 horsepower and a 3.0-liter turbo six in the 435i with 300 horsepower. Either way, you'll have plenty of juice for all the Gran Couping you'll be doing.
