Well, what can I tell you? Seat's most powerful car yet will make you want to move to Europe, again.
Americans have every reason to be happy after today's news. The new Subaru WRX STI looks fantastic, the Corvette Z06 is going to be the best, and you get the Volkswagen Golf R with 290 horsepower and two doors for the ultimate hot hatch experience. Good times indeed.
What's bad news is that you might prefer the Seat Leon Cupra 280 instead. Yes, despite being the most powerful Spanish VW yet, it's ten horsepower down compared to the Golf at 280 horses, paired with 258 pound feet of torque.
On the other hand, it gets the same six-speed manual or DSG as an option, with which it will reach 62 mpg in 5.7 seconds. It's lighter than the previous generation (-121 pounds), has dynamic chassis control and since the engine is the same 2.0 TSI, it also returns 42.2 mpg (on the European circle, so it would be less in the US). It's also going to be cheaper as all Seats are priced below Volkswagens.
But the whole point is the looks. To be different. Quite a bit of Audi applied to a VW base car, and a touch of Alfa Romeo with a Spanish flare. Nice.
Like the idea?
