There are some on Oppositelock that would say no, you’re not an enthusiast if you drive a car with the most popular transmission. But I disagree, just because you might have had to compromise, or you picked a car that didn’t even have a manual option does not discredit your enthusiasm for the glorious automobile.

I often read articles on here about the "rules of the road". Use turn signal, keep right, dont speed. Sometimes, that's not enough. I was in an accident this morning (Yes, both myself and my Jeep are okay). Driving to and from work for me is generally about the time of rush hour, both ways, and again, I drive a Jeep, so going fast and swerving through traffic is something that is rather impossible.

I'm going to break the mold for these posts and post a car I actually would not own. It's ugly, it's British, it's from a former kit car maker that has now gone bust, and it's powered by a ford mustang engine. Yet, despite all this, I can;t help but have a certain amount of respect for it… Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you for your consideration, the Marcos Mantis GT.

Mitsubishi, you used to be cool, man. You used to be THE GUY. You used to be big and all-wheel-drive, and twin-turbo'd. You used to be small and turbo'd. You used to be small, turbo'd, and FWD. AND RWD. You used to be beautiful. You had big eyes, Pop-ups, chiseled physique, wide stance. You used to be bad-ass-practical. 300HP? Boosted? AWD? And I can put people in the back seat? AND I didn't have to pay $30K+ for it. You used to be a movie star. You used to be on posters.

After obtaining the necessary parts I set out to replace the timing belt, water pump and camshaft seal. Once I got to the cam seal I noticed that half of the cam seal carrier must be part of the cap for the first camshaft journal, so in order to properly replace the seal I’d need to remove the valve cover. Not knowing I’d be taking off the valve cover I hadn’t bought a new valve cover gasket. So seeing as I had a couple days to kill waiting to get a new valve cover gasket from the $tealership I decided to freshen up the valve cover using some of the left over Ferrari valve cover paint (a.k.a. VHT Red Wrinkle paint) from when I built my M20 stroker motor.

You see it perhaps dozens of times a day: a car that has "notches." You might ask: "What's a notch?" I define a notch as a "cut" made in a simple shape - usually a rectangle - that gives that shape more complexity. By and large, notches are employed for cosmetic purposes and serve no practical function. Nevertheless, designers seem to love notches, because they're showing up on a large percentage of car designs. Also check out part 2.

Small town America is really something to behold. It has charm and oozes with its own history. We drove from Colorado to Missouri this week and stopped by my Father-In-Law's hometown in rural Kansas. It's actually a beautiful town that is doing fairly well due to the zillions of wind mills on the nearby Wind Farm and the taxes they produce.

Offroadkarter shared his day racing at MIR. Turbotiny spotted a Ford Racing 500 Cobra Jet and a Camaro SS RS. Louros picked up a 1 owner e21 as a project car. MayoKetchup got a butt load of pictures from a car even in Puerto Rico (Part 2, Part 3, Part 4). His Stigness put his C230K on the dyno. Lepie's e60 M5 met a demise it did not deserve. PlayerWAN picked up a bug eye WRX and Snakesm13 bought an s2000.

As always, If I've missed something and you would like me to include it, let me know.
