There is a very elite group of cars that get to 62 mph from standing in less than three seconds. There is one car that can get to 62 in 2.13 seconds. It's not a Bugatti Veyron, either. It's an electric car built by a team of Dutch students. Incredible.
The team from Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands built the little car, which destroys the Veyron's 0-to-62 mph time. It even beats the 2.3 second run laid down by the Ariel Atom, the previous record holder.
How does it do it? It has four electric motors with a total power output of around 135 horsepower. It's all-wheel-drive and only weighs 320 pounds. That gives it an incredible power-to-weight ratio. I imagine the gearing is also shorter than Yoda, which makes for incredible acceleration and a low top speed.
It takes a lot of engineering to make a car accelerate like that, so kudos to the team. Now maybe Nissan will beat it with some sort of crazy nuts GT-R.
