In case you haven't heard, Ben Affleck will be the next Batman, and he's picking himself a fight with Superman in his next movie outing. Of course, Batman has to have a Batmobile, and the word is that General Motors is on the case.

Specifically, the rumor is that the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood is designing the next Batmobile (or as I like to call it, Batfleckmobile.) This was the studio that designed some of the cars for Michael Bay's Transformers 4, including the Bumblebee Camaro.

The rumor first appeared on Batman movie fansite Batman on Film, who reported that it will have a very different look than the Lamborghini/Tank hybrid used in Christopher Nolan's films:

"The Batmobile is currently being designed and built by General Motors at the GM Advanced Design Studio in North Hollywood. This is the same team who most recently designed and built the vehicles for TRANSFORMERS 4 with Michael Bay – who was very hands-on and involved in the design/building process for the new Bumblebee Camaro. Anyway, back to the new Batmobile…

It will definitely NOT have a military look like The Tumbler from [Chris] Nolan’s ‘Dark Knight Trilogy.’

As of about four weeks ago, it was still “pictures on the wall” – meaning nothing had actually been built yet.

The website also says that "an old Cadillac" will feature prominently in the film, but it does not say exactly how. This could mean some character drives a vintage Cadillac, or as the website speculates, the Batmobile itself could draw from some older Cadillac or Cadillac concept. Cadillac Sixteen, anyone?

If this is true, it will mean a shift in marketing away from Chrysler, which was involved with the promotions for The Dark Knight Rises. Any suggestions for what the next non-militarized GM Batmobile should look like?
