One of the most amazing things about the Lexus LFA wasn't even a part of the car. It was the massive, state of the art loom Toyota created to weave the carbon fiber that comprised the LFA's body. Now, if you're in England, you can get a glimpse of it at the London Design Museum.

From now until Oct. 29, the museum will showcase raw carbon fiber material, formed vehicle parts and a video presentation about the Lexus Carbon Loom as part of an exhibit called The Future is Here: A New Industrial Revolution.

The loom is an incredibly impressive affair, built to construct lightweight, super-strong carbon fiber components for the LFA after Toyota concluded that other people's carbon fiber wasn't up to the task. As Motor Trend notes, the robotic loom included 144 spools that could spin 24,000 carbon threads just for the hollow door surrounds alone.

It's a remarkable technological achievement, and one that's kind of fitting considering Toyota as a company began with textile weaving in the 19th century. If you're in the London area, you should check out this exhibit and let us know if it's any good.
