First A Bid For $17M In Sponsorship...Now A Suit For Losing That $17M S

As RACER reported earlier this month, the battle over an 8-figure sponsorship Army National Guard sponsorship contract between Panther Racing and Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing went in RLLR's favor, but a new twist has emerged.

Panther, which received National Guard sponsorship from 2008-2013, has now filed a civil suit against RLLR, the IndyCar Series, and two entities that represent the guard, seeking unspecified damages.

The move begs the question: Should Panther continue to pursue every possible avenue to recoup the lost Army National Guard funds by going the legal route—dragging the series and its former sponsor into an ugly public feud, or should they accept defeat and concentrate on finding new sponsors?
