You'd be forgiven for thinking that dear old Jeremy Clarkson limits himself to nothing but twelve episodes of Top Gear a year and then just loafs about the rest of the time because why not. In reality, he actually spends his days hosting other programs for British television that most Americans never see. Well, that, and insulting every other European he can find.
In the 1990s Clarkson made a show called Meet the Neighbours, where he elucidated every single stereotype he could find about an individual country, and then set out in a very natty Jaguar E-type to prove it. Because Clarkson is nothing but Clarkson, he manages to confirm most of his beliefs. In Belgium, which he feels is very boring, he comes upon:
- A pipe smoking competition
- A bird song counting competition
- An exhilarating game of cow patty bingo, except it's not bingo because bingo hasn't made it to Belgium yet but I'm sure it will someday soon, I promise
In the Netherlands, he does a bunch of drugs, and then finds the one Dutchman that just hates everything.
It's rapturous to watch.
