Even though Pagani's been making the Huayra for some time now, the Pagani Zonda it was supposed to replace still refuses to die. This, the Pagani Zonda Revolucion, is supposed to be the final-final-FINAL version. I don't care if it isn't – it just sounds too good.

This looks like the Pagani Zonda Revolucion we saw earlier this week undergoing shakedown trials on the track, and it comes to us courtesy of Tim Shmee. Sure, it'll set you back $2,900,000, but for a sound like that, I think it's worth it. And that sound comes with 800 horses as well.

Unlike many cars strictly built for racing, it doesn't sound buzzy or whiny or tinny. It sounds like big trumpets of war at the top end, with a bit of a Formula One engine from the V10 era thrown in for good measure. Add in a V8 rumble at the bottom, and the larynx of a tiger, and baby, you got a stew going.

A stew that I would love to pour directly into my ears.
