Mitsubishi only managed to sell 12 i-MiEVs in November in the US, so in order to boost sales, the 2014 model receives an expanded standard equipment package and a price reduction of $6,130.
Automotive News posted some figures yesterday, and according to that, Mitsubishi's electric offering is as shockingly popular as high taxes, despite the fact that it actually helps in cutting them:
Mitsubishi sold just 12 i-MiEVs last month, with year-to-date sales of the car totaling 1,018 units through November.
The 2014 MY will come with heated seats and side mirrors, a quick charge port with lamp, a 8A/12A switchable charging cable, battery warming system, rear door speakers, while the interior gets a leather-covered steering wheel and shift knob, a vanity mirror on the passenger side and trim updates. From the outside, new alloys, fog lamps and DRL completes the list of upgrades.
Mitsubishi have built 30,000 i-MiEVs and i-MiEV based cars since 2009, but the US market is hard to conquer, especially after the Nissan Leaf's price reduction. With the $6,130 price cut, the $7,500 federal tax credit and other benefits, it's possible for Californians to get a 2014 i-MiEV for as low as $12,995.
