Ford jumped the gun on its own 2015 Ford Mustang embargo, set for midnight, and there are already some confirmed details on the Mustang website. Oh, and it's going to go on sale in "late 2014," according to Ford.
Thanks again to Mustang6G, we can confirm a few things already reported in the Autoweek story that leaked yesterday.
Eighteen-inch wheels appear to be standard fare on the base models, with 20s probably reserved for the Mustang GT. The colors are also pretty typical Mustang: black, white, silver, grays, reds, blue, yellow and orange.
The 3.7 V6 looks to stand pat at 305 horses, but the 5.0 V8 "will benefit from increased power this year," according to the website, so count on more than the 420 it has for 2013. The optional 2.3-liter Ecoboost is the big story:
The EcoBoost delivers efficiency with real power to the Mustang powertrain lineup. A high-capacity direct injection system precisely controls fuel delivery, while a new twin-scroll low-inertia turbocharger means incredibly fast time-to-torque.
Other leaked bits include the tech. There's the keyless access and start already mentioned, but also the optional MyFord Touch, as well as blind-spot monitoring and cross-path detection. Both of those safety pieces seem like rarities in the sporty car segment.
