There were bizarre cries of "FAKE!" when Travis initially posted the video of Jeff Gordon welcoming him, North Carolina-style, to NASCAR country. One of our readers agreed, and finally got the scoop on what really happened. The shocking (totally-not-the-) truth is potentially even more hilarious.

Yes, it was Queen Latifah in her best Jeff Gordon disguise, this whole time. GOTCHA.

Huge, huge thanks to reader BigNSlow, who put this video together!

As you know, Milanese coachbuilder Touring Superleggera will only make eight 8C Competizione-based Alfa Romeo Disco Volantes. We've seen a red one (ordered by a weathly Singaporean enthusiast) at the motor shows and on Top Gear, but now Touring has revealed a green and gold one, and it's gorgeous. I'll just let the pictures speak for themselves.

No word yet on who ordered that particular car, but Touring will be exhibiting it at the Geneva motor show this month.

Hitting 55 Green Lights In A Row In Manhattan Is Just Incredible insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com

insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com ® Hitting 55 Green Lights In A Row In Manhattan Is Just Incredible

I've been known to throw words with hyperbole like "amazing," "crazy," "awesome," and "insane" around a lot, but this is the first time in a long time I've been truly stunned. This guy hit over 50 green lights in Manhattan. IN A ROW.

Now, there's nothing fantastic about timing your lights perfectly, so that you can continue cruising for as long as possible. Lots of people do it all the time. But to hit 55 in a row, in the densest part, of the densest city in the United States is unthinkable.

To hit 55 in a row is a thing of zen-like beauty, requiring the throttle control that Grand Lamas take years to perfect. Even if it was at three in the morning.

If you live in a similarly gridlocked city, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. This clip is over six minutes long, and I can't stop watching.

Clearly this is some sort of world record. Somebody call Guinness.

Russians build a snow plow out of a crappy car—and it works pretty well

Winter came and overstayed its welcome. At what point do we make like the Russians and turn our tiny crappy cars into snow plow sleds? I say the next snow. Just hop on the hood of your car and make a friend drive you through and pummel it. Winter is stupid, this type of stupid fun makes it a little less so.

SPLOID is a new blog about awesome stuff. Join us on Facebook

The Second Star Cars Collection Might Be Even Better Than The First S

All the way back in June, we featured the Star Cars collection from artist Scott Park. It had favorites like the original Batmobile, and the Halo Warthog. We thought they were all very nice and lovely, and that was the end of that. We were wrong. This second collection is possibly even better.

This time, there are beautifully cartoony examples of cars like the whitewalled DeLorean from Back to the Future Part III, the Jaguar E-type hearse from Harold and Maude, and even the Ghostbusters ECTO-1.

You can get a full-size view of the new poster right here. And if you want to buy a print of your own, get it from Scott's shop right over here.

I suggest you do, because these are just the best.

27 Dead, 109 Injured in Knife Attack at Chinese Train Station S

At the Kunming train station in China's Yunnan province, 27 people have been killed and 109 are injured after a group of men wielding knives went on a rampage this evening.

The details are still unraveling as to a motive and a capture of the criminals, but local news outlet K6 is reporting that "several of the attackers were shot by police and that victims were being transported to local hospitals."

The scene at Kunming, as it is captured on Twitter, is gruesome.

This type of violence in China is not rare—in late 2012, a 36-year-old man attacked a primary school in Henan province, wounding 22 children in the process. In the middle of last year, a knife gang killed 36 people at a police station in Xinjiang province, with claims that these types of violent acts are often methods of protest.

Aussie V8 Supercars Battle To The Flag Is Possibly The Year's Best insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com

insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com ® Aussie V8 Supercars Battle To The Flag Is Possibly The Year's Best

It's only March, and most of the world's racing series haven't even started yet. But that hasn't stopped Australian V8 Supercars from throwing down the gauntlet of the most epic battle in racing, with this matchup between a young rookie and an experienced winner keeping you at the edge of your seat.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what race fans live for.

New Zealand's own Scott McLaughlin was leading five-time champion Jamie Whincup in a fight to the finish of the Clipsal 500 in his Volvo, with Whincup's Holden close behind. Bounding over every curb and bump, Whincup's Holden sat right on the Volvo's rear bumper, never giving up.

At times, mere inches separated the two cars, and it looks as if one quick braking maneuver from McLaughlin would send them both flying off the track in one heap of twisted metal.

Coming down through the final turns, Whincup goes outside. The phrase "using all of the track" is thrown around a lot, but it doesn't do Whincup justice. He uses more than the track, seemingly scraping the wall. The crowd is audible over the 16 bellowing cylinders of the Holden and the Volvo, screaming even louder.

The next turn has Whincup on the inside, and McLaughlin on the long part of the right-hander. They enter the turn, and the young gun does his best to take Whincup, right in the corner, right when he's most defenseless.

Back and forth, Whincup and McLaughlin go, heading into the final turn. Then, right at the last moment –

Oh, hey, I bet you wanted to find out who came out on top, huh?

You'll just have to watch to find out. Formula One wishes they could have this.
