Candy, cool weather, slutty costumes and a Tremors marathon; it's that time of the year again, Halloween! What better way celebrate the season of squash then a car-themed pumpkin carving contest.
Below are the rules and instructions on how to enter. Go easy on me as this is the first contest I've ever administrated.
HOW TO ENTER: The entry period for this contest begins 12:01 A.M. EST on 10/20/13 and ends 11:59 P.M. EST on 10/27/13. To enter, send a photo to juan.barnett@gmail.com with the word PUMPKIN somewhere in the subject. The photo of your carved pumpkin must contain a handwritten image of your username in the photo. Think of your pumpkin as a set of stock wheels you’re selling on a forum. You may include a brief description of the photo, but if you have to go into a dialogue about your pumpkin the judge’s eyes will glaze over and move to the next fruit masterpiece. Limit ONE entry per person. Make your entry count.
JUDGING: All entries will be vetted by a panel of expert judges who’s names will be revealed at the time of the announced winners so that entrants can’t suck up to specific judge’s likes or dislikes. All eligible entries will be displayed on www.oppositelock.jalopnik.com on 10/30/2013, and winners will be announced in a separate post on 10/31/2013. The Grand-Prize winner will receive a copy of Forza Motorsport 5 and the top 2 runner-ups will receive gifts TBD (think apparel, stickers, etc.) Pumpkins will be judged on the following criteria: 25% Creativity; 25% Jalopiness; 50% Craft & Complexity. Winners will be notified by email on 10/31/13. 3.
ELIGIBILITY: The contest is open to everyone except that millennial guy who hates cars and Elon Musk. Sorry Elon, we can’t compete with a pumpkin that detects children, levitates and dispenses candy autonomously.
SPONSOR/ADMINISTRATOR: The Sponsor and Administrator of this Contest is Juan Barnett (that's me). If sponsors are added, I’ll update this post accordingly.
If you have any questions or comments, post them below or email me directly.
Happy carving.
