Today’s wicked wild Nice Price or Crack Pipe LoCost isn’t just Yamaha-powered, it’s also Jalop owned. Sent to me by ace3, you now need to weigh in on the price letting him know if that was a wise move or not.

Speaking of a movement, yesterday’s 1971 VW Super Beetle moved a narrow 54% of you to deem its price to be nice. The other 46% thought it another sort of movement altogether. Yes, I'm talking about poo.

Have you ever heard the riddle about what is the difference between a rooster and a nymphomaniac? Well, one says cock-a-doodle-do and the other says any co... whoa, hi there kids, how long have you been here?

Anywho, if you’re as big a fan as I am of the Lotus 7 and its offspring then you’ll be aware of the panoply of motivational forces that have over the years found their way under hood. Because of that, Sevens, especially the bargain basement LoCost homage editions, seem as indiscriminate as to what goes inside them as does the non-chicken in the above joke.

For $13,000, We Are Family S

For today’s Mazda mayhem LoCost that run-whatcha-brung means a DOHC, water cooled, four pot out of a Yamaha YZF-R1 über bike. The engine displaces 998-ccs and comes with both fuel injection and 5-valves per cylinder for maximum breathing all the way up to its 12K-plus redline.

The Yamaha mill brings along its radiator and 6-cog sequential gearbox which of course means that backing up this LoCost means either parking it on a hill or getting out to push. Perhaps making up for that omission it comes with an electric parking brake (fawn-say!) paddle shifters, and a pretty insane sound as you can gather from this self indulgently long but totes fun driving video.

Okay, ace3, a backwards cap? Seriously? What Frat are you in? Yes, your car doesn’t have a windscreen to speak of, but I mean come on, you claim you’re only 5’-9,” hunker down and wear it right. The fact that our brave owner is 50th percentile brings up another interesting point about this car, which is that, with a 4” extension to the frame it’s now roomier than a little kid’s first pair of boxer shorts.

That embiggening engenders the never before spoken admission regarding a Seven, that the present owner ‘had to move the seat up.’ Typically these cars are so tight inside that you have to make the choice of not fitting or rolling in the nude. Please however, don’t use that second option.

For $13,000, We Are Family S

There’s a lot of additional fun bits here, and a lot of them come off of various Mazda sports cars so you know they have some zoom-zoom in them. The front spindles are MX-5 while the coil-sprung live axle in back is out of an early RX-7. That brings with it disc brakes and a limited slip diff in the pumpkin.

Speaking of pumpkin, that gourd-hued paint isn't paint at all but a skin-tight vinyl wrap. The car also has a slew of fancy name parts that you can read all about in the ad, but which I'm not going to go to the trouble of repeating here as ace3 has already done a commendable job, and I am fatigued from a full night of krumping.

For $13,000, We Are Family S

There's no dancing around the fact that you now need to decide the fate of a fellow Jalop, and vote on whether or not ace3's price for this Yamaha-powered LoCost is a screamin' deal. He has recently dropped it to $13,000 from a previous demand for the total defunding of Obamacare, one large pepperoni pizza (and not that Papa John's crap either), and the ability to give the President an atomic wedgie.

Wait, shit! That was the Tea Party. Actually, I don't know what ace3 wanted for it before, but now it's thirteen grand. What do you think, are you going to let him slide for that? Or, does that price make the backwards cap thing look like only the beginning?

You decide!

USA7s or go here if ace3 decides to keep the car.

insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com ® For $13,500, Snakes Alive!

For many cars being branded with a salvage title can mean the kiss of death to its potential to sell. You’ll need to determine if that’s the case with this Nice Price or Crack Pipe Viper, or if its low, low price means that today death is only offering a peck on the cheek.

If you listen to the oldsters, death and taxes are the unavoidable aspects of your life. You can add to that the fact that dropping a massive M-sport V12 into an equally M-massaged E34 is going to pretty dang popular around here. At twenty grand, 62% of you felt it was also very nicely priced too.

Have you ever wanted to experience shear unadulterated brutality and painful death but never seem to have the chance to run into Mike Tyson and tell him that he has a stupid little girl voice and that his face tattoo is actually the Swahili symbol for a cat's anus? Well, have I got an alternative for you!

Today’s 1994 Dodge Viper RT-10 is representative of that marque’s first generation, which is notable for having more horsepower than the Prussian Army, and none of the driving aids to help keep you from using those horses to turn the car, and yourself, into a horrifying mess of Guy Fieri’s hair proportions. Seriously, piloting an old Viper is like driving a regular car while Duffman obsessively pelvic thrusts you in the face, it's just that wild and demanding.

For $13,500, Snakes Alive! S

This one adds to the excess by having had a Paxton blower fitted to the 8-litre Hammer of Thor under its massive clamshell hood. Everything else here seems pretty stock, right down to the Cuisinart three-spokes and the 6-cog Tremac backing up the ginormous 10 cylinder mill.

This being an early RT-10, it has side exhaust to keep your ankles warm in winter, as well as a fabric roof and side curtain setup, the complexity and efficiency of which will either make this a fair-weather friend or require a boy scout as riding mechanic. That second option would make you a total creeper, so it would probably be best just to stay out of the rain.

Everybody's probably familiar with what was left off the Viper, likely more so than with what was included. There's no ABS, no traction control, launch control, or even your grandma in the passenger seat to tell you to 'be careful dear.'

For $13,500, Snakes Alive! S

Even with all that stuff left off, the Viper with its brutal power and ostentatious physical presentation intact still typically commands a pretty healthy chunk of coin of the realm. Not this red serpent however, which is being offered for $13,500, barely half what you might expect of one that's actually running and not peppered with bullet holes and still housing a former drug cartel boss.

Why is this one so freakin' cheap? Well, like Heidi Montag, it has a reconstructed title. That's also known as a salvage title, which is also known as once having an owie that the insurance company thought would be more expensive to fix than the whole car was worth. There are other reasons a car might have a salvage title - theft recovery, demonic possession, permanent stench of butsecks (man that's an old one!), but whatever the taint, it's never going to be a good one.

For $13,500, Snakes Alive! S

It's not like the present owner is going to tell you that the salvage title is due to the family of Leprechauns that live in the trunk and shower the car's owners with gold. That's just never going to happen, no matter how much you might enjoy a golden shower from a tiny Irishman.

In fact, this salvage Viper's seller doesn't let on as to what the reason is for the scarlet lettered title on this 22,000 miler, but the price kind of speaks for itself. He does say that it has a busted speedo and is in need of a LOWER CONTROL. Hopefully that won't kill the deal. What do you think, is $13,500 cheap enough for a blown Viper that you think someone should just roll the dice? Or, is the title of this Viper actually Snake Eyes?

insuranceinstantonline.blogspot.com ® For $13,500, Drop Your Toupée and Grab Your Sake

Shake, Rattle, and Roll is a twelve bar rocker originally recorded by Big Joe Turner back in 1954. Hopefully the only shaking and rattling from today’s Nice Price or Crack Pipe custom RX-7 ragtop will be Big Joe on the radio, and hopefully for its seller, its price won't leave you rolling your eyes.

Speaking of rolling, 63% of you decided that you wouldn’t want to roll in yesterday’s 2003 F350 Cummins conversion, or at least not for its Benjamin-shy of fifteen grand asking price. That was in stark contrast to the comments, which is occasionally the case, but of course that praise and two-seventy five will get the seller a tasty latte and nothing more.

With every new iteration, Mazda imbued the RX-7 with greater bona fides. The first one was a capable little sports car but it did have a bit of a tepid mill, and the live axle out back was initially capped with drum brakes. Those are the dumb-asses of the brake world!

The next one stepped it up with an IRS, available turbo (the FB turbo was only offered in Japan) and passive rear-wheel steering. It also expanded the available body styles to include a convertible with a clever hard/soft surrey top. Sadly it was a good 800 pounds heavier than its predecessor and wasn’t as sharp a driver.

For $13,500, Drop Your Toupée and Grab Your Sake S

The third generation - code named FD - brought back the RX-7’s sporty edge like a busty girl brings fun to a bar-ride mechanical bull. Yeah, it was even heavier still but all the softness had been excised from its handling. It was even given an engine with a turbo for its turbo (cue Xzibit) making mad kinds of power from its teacup-sized 13B spinner.

So hardcore was the FD that Mazda eliminated the factory offered soft-top edition. But today, we’re bringing the sexy back. This 1993 FD, in stunning metallic poop color, is a custom job that lets you catch some rays along with catching some major revs.

For $13,500, Drop Your Toupée and Grab Your Sake S

Described by the seller as a professional conversion done by a shop in California, the hatch to toupée tussler work looks reasonably clean and - dare I say it - professional. The trunk lid is sculpted to match both fender and scuttle lines and the top itself looks like someone actually put some thought into its action.

Even the FD’s funky door handles have been taken into account here, making everyone who drives this beast batman by their now isolated, and ear-level, existence. The only potential demerit is possibly the vinyl rear window, as those things tend to go miasmic with banana browning quickness.

Another possible downside - oh hell, it’s the elephant in the room when it comes to these kinds of cut and covers - is the car’s remaining structural integrity. Any and all unit-body cars tend to keep it all together due to a team effort, and when a major player on the team gets benched. . . well, the rest can end up shaking worse than a dog shitting a peach pit.

For $13,500, Drop Your Toupée and Grab Your Sake S

I’m not saying that this rotary rocket suffers from the droptop DTs, but not finding any background information on just exactly who in California cut it doesn’t encourage me to think otherwise.

That determination would have to wait for a test drive, preferably over a couple of rail crossings and perhaps attempting to open a door while parked with one wheel up on a driveway apron. Other considerations are the car’s mileage, which goes undisclosed, and its rarity, the seller claiming that it’s one of five conversions built. Again, there’s no documenting that number.

The interior is said to have been re-covered, and the beige color does compliment the exterior hue nicely. There is some staining on the driver’s squab, perhaps indicating that a previous occupier should have allocated more drying time before leaving the spray-tan salon.

So there are 99 questions regarding this cool one-off RX-7, but a price ain’t one. The ad is asking $13,500 for the car and you now need to weigh in on whether that’s a deal or not. What do you say, is this custom convertible worth $13,500? Or, is that over the topless?

You decide!
